Iceland is one of the most volcanically dynamic places on Earth, and we were reminded of this when an Icelandic Volcano that had been dormant for nearly 6,000 years erupted recently.
Iceland is a young country and extremely active, geologically speaking. As we were reminded of on Friday when the earth cracked open in the Reykjanes Peninsula, in the southwest corner of Iceland, and erupted with rivers of hot lava.
The hi-tech BIOEFFECT Greenhouse is nestled in the middle of the lava fields of Reykjanes UNESCO Global Geopark – only 6 miles from the new volcanic eruption. There we grow our bioengineered barley plants, producing our Barley EGF, in volcanic pumice from the volcano Hekla.
You will also find micro-crystalline lava from Hekla in our Volcanic Exfoliator. Along with ground apricot seeds, it buffs the skin to remove dead and dry skin, leaving it soft and smooth.
