EGF – THE SKIN CONDUCTOR
EGF stands for Epidermal Growth Factor. From birth until adulthood, our bodies manufacture copious amounts of proteins called growth factors that communicate with cells, sending messages to repair, rejuvenate, etc. We like to think of them as musical conductors instructing all the different cells to perform. EGF is one of the most important growth factors in our skin and helps to boost production of collagen and elastin to maintain healthy, dense and youthful skin.
If we imagine a baby’s skin, it’s thick and plump and you just want to pinch it – that is because it is full of EGF. Once we reach maturity, production of growth factors decreases. As a result, cell turnover and repair slow, eventually affecting our appearance – skin starts to sag, and fine lines and wrinkles appear. In fact, skin density thins by one percent each year after we turn twenty. And that’s where topical application of EGF comes in. BIOEFFECT EGF products replenish the body’s own natural supply of EGF and rejuvenate skin cells, thus helping to slow the aging process.
PURE, POTENT AND
But what is unique about our EGF? It is the world’s first plant-based EGF. EGF has previously either been grown in bacteria, which poses a risk of endotoxins, or extracted from human or animal cells, which presents ethical, moral, and legal issues. Producing EGF in barley is safer, purer, and more stable – which makes it the perfect choice for skincare.
