Artist collaboration: Thordis Erla Zoëga x BIOEFFECT.

We are excited to announce our collaboration with Icelandic contemporary artist, Thordis Erla Zoëga, for this year's Holiday Gift Sets.

Thordis Erla Zoëga is an acclaimed Icelandic contemporary artist who has made her mark in the international art scene. A graduate of the prestigious Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, Zoëga has displayed her talent for installations, sculpture, paintings, and video in galleries worldwide - from Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and Stockholm, to Berlin, Basel, and the Czech Republic. Her artwork is also proudly represented by Iceland’s leading gallery, BERG Contemporary. Thordis Erla recently won a competition for an art installation for the new National Hospital of Iceland which is set to be installed in 2025.

In a recent conversation about her work and inspiration for the BIOEFFECT Holiday Gift Sets, Thordis Erla shared some insights into her unique artistic process. "In my practice, I dance on the line of art and design," she said. "I work in various mediums, but I am drawn to materials that interact with light in a special way and attempt to capture the magic in our everyday lives."

When discussing her inspiration behind the designs for BIOEFFECT, which she titled 'Absorb'. "The inspiration came from the EGF Serum and its journey from the 'outer' world into the 'inner' world," she explained. Thordis Erla says she was inspired by the mystery surrounding the serum’s effects on skin, which motivated her to illustrate its journey through skin layers until it reaches its destination and starts working its magic. During the process, she aimed to interact with the brand’s identity and create a three-dimensional space from its iconic two-dimensional stripes.

Zoëga's recent collaboration with BIOEFFECT proved to be a significant period of growth and discovery. "Since I was approached by BIOEFFECT I’ve had a great time discovering the science and the amazing group of people behind the brand. I also think it is interesting to dive into product design; from the lab to the actual product on the shelf and how it interacts with the user."

Zoëga's intriguing blend of art, design, and scientific curiosity makes her an artist to watch. Her commitment to exploring new mediums and methods is evident in her diverse body of work, providing an ongoing source of fascination and delight to everyone.
